Nigella Express: Episode 9

With so many weekends at home, away or with visitors, and with me in class during the week our Nigella nights have been few and far between the last month.

But we scoured the book to find a simple, quick and relatively easy recipe for this week. We landed on: Grilled Cheese and Slaw.

Now for something that was suppoesd to be simple, we definitely had a directions FAIL. As in we were supposed to press the sandwiches with another pan and heavy object, but didn't do that. So you will see the gooey melti-ness that was Nigella's intent did not in fact happen to ours.

BUT, the net result was just as good. Talk about comfort food on a rainy, windy and cold night.

The 'slaw is another story. Perhaps it is because we refused to buy or make mango chutney for onlye 2 tablespoons worth, but it just wasn't good. Bleah.

Boy, if you two keep that mango chutney attitude up Costco is going to recall their super ginormous Costco card. What an opportunity to troll the aisles of Costco, bulk buy product, and can some mango chutney. May 3rd is just around the corner. You could give it as gifts for family and friends. Check out pickyourown.org for canning info...

Todd--You've clearly missed the point of "easy and relatively simple."....canning my own chutney or anything for that matter is most likely never happening in this household...except maybe pick hock...i would maybe make an exception for that.

Easy and relatively simple happen when prepared. Painting is easy, it is the prep work that is takes the time and creates the headaches. I bet Nate will bust out a batch one night when you are at school seeing as how he can't play WOW...
