System Shock

This weekend Nate took us to the 'worlds largest indoor waterpark' over by the Mall of America. Let me start by telling you that the day we went was "supersaver day" so it was 50% to go. What Nate did not anticipate was that every single family in the Twin Cities area would also come to the waterpark on this day. The place was SWARMING with kids.

Anyway, we walk in and the park was heated to at least 80 degrees inside. It was so warm and humid my system went into complete shock. It felt great, but it still was not warm enough for me to get into cold water and go swimming around. So I hung out in the hot tub.

Nate was determined to enjoy this place so he took a ride on the lazy river.

Nate said he was inspired to choose this as his secret date by the home video of my family at Midway Motor Lodge that we saw a few weekends. When he asked me what changed and where was the little girl that would run and jump in the water I told him he clearly didn't pay attention in that video. If he had, he would have known that all I really needed was some candy.
The rest of the weekend went a little something like this:

Fun with Finnegan!

I have gotten a few Finnegan picture requests. The last time we were all home to Viroqua, the Keaty Fam brought Finn's nifty sled with to try out in the million feet of snow that is in Viroqua.

He wasn't totally sure what to think about it.
After he had enough of the sled, we set him in the snow. Nick decided Finn need a snowball. Doesn't Finn look like he is blowing out air in exasperation like "are they serious right now?"

He is darn cute though isn't he?

Screaming Hair

Last night, I was fortunate enough to get invited by Debra to a Blow Dry Boot Camp that she bid on at a charity auction. It was held at Jon Charles Salon, a very swank place in Uptown. I read online before I went that Jon's philosophy was to make "hair scream." So..

Here I am after the wash, feeling anxious about learning the best blow-drying techniques. I am just not coordinated enough to master the round-brush.
Half-way through. That is Jon Charles himself folks. No kidding. And of course Debra cheesing it up in the background! The final products!
Lindsay and I finished first, and got to watch the transformations of everyone else. I'm not sure my hair was "screaming" when I left, but there were some definite screamers, (i.e. Debra's Mom---whose new do was gorgeous!).

Improv!

Last night, Nate and I attended an Improv class at the Guthrie theatre. It was pretty fun. There were only about 10 people in the class total so we got to try out quite a few cool improv techniques and activities.

Of course, leave it to my husband to be totally inappropriate with his improv subject matter. For those of you who experienced the "love----wet" comment you probably aren't surprised. Since this is a family blog I will leave his improv inappriateness to your imaginations.

It was a good time, and at the end some old dude gave us a lecture on how important it is to keep trying new things and how he read in the Wall Street Journal that a couple that tries many new things together, stays together and is happier.

I guess Nate and I are moving in the right direction then, as I would say an improv class is definitely "new" and pretty random. But all in all, very fun!

Election 2008

For some reason, I am extremely interested in the presidential race this time around. For the past two presidential elections that I have been able to take part in, I have been interested, but definitely not until the primaries were over. Not sure what has changed, or maybe it is just that: I am ready for a change.

In my quest for figure out who I should actually be voting for based on the issues vs. who I want to vote for based on personality, I have been searching online and peice-mealing it all together.

My friend sent me this website this weekend that breaks down all the major issues by candidate and what their historical actions/words have been. I found it very interesting! Check it ou!

Red Dress Fashion Show

Last week, I went to New York for work. It was really rough...I stayed at the W in Times Square. For some reason they upgraded my room for free, and I ended up with a Junior Suite with 2 bathrooms and a living room.

Seriously unnecessary.

I had a great view!

I went to the Red Dress Fashion Show, and saw lots of celebs. Here is Sara Rameriz (aka: Callie O'Malley from Grey's Anatomy).

Ashanti...she was tiny.

And for my Uncle Art...Hiedi Klum......

.......and Molly Sims

Liza ended the show with a rousing rendition of New York, New York.
It was pretty cool.

Baby Schuster has arrived!!!!

February 2nd was the Big Day for the Schuster family. Summer and Joe welcomed Max Joseph into their family. Mas was 8lbs. 2oz, and 20 inches long.

Summer, Joe and Max are doing wonderful. I got to hold Max last night and he is sooooo cute.

I know many of you (Nancy, Rebecca and Reid) are anxious to see a picture so here is Max's first photo debut:
