The Slap Bet

Rewind to July 4th weekend, 2011.

Nate and I, fresh off a How I Met Your Mother marathon, are making slap bets left and right (although never actually cashing in on them). This pretty much sums it up for those of you who aren't hip on it...

This is an important precursor to the BIG EVENT of today. Matilda's 10 month birthday.

Also known as the date of which we would determine Matilda's eye color. This eye color is very important because depending on what her little peepers showed us, either Nate or my Mom will be slapped...by the other one.

So take a look....cast your votes....

Because either Nate is slapping my Mom, or my Mom is slapping Nate....and I will have a front row seat.

Here is some evidence at a closer angle...

Tell me what color you think they are...I'll tally the votes and we will claim a slapper and a slappee...and I promise to post the footage of this event should it every actually happen!!

yes there are two eyes! What part of the eye are we looking (pun) at for color? If we go by surface area white is the obvious correct answer. If this is the more traditional ocular ogling (more pun) than what are the color choices? Ya know I was fine with crayolas 16 color pack, but then the rich kids got the crayola 64 color pack and eversince then trying to describe a color has become more of a creative warfare on inventing "colorwords". Without instructions I will take a poke (yup) at Steel Gray.

I am not stupid enough to vote for "Brown"; however these 'baby blues' have been highly doctored by the head photo taker of the family. My final vote is 'barely blue'... and when they do turn to brown (hazel included) I get to reverse double slap!

Color is a complicate thing. Nate brings a good point as to the "doctoring" of said photos. What light they were shot in could also affect the color. In the hospital the offical temperature color of our lights is 4100 degrees Kelvin which allows the doctors to pick up the yellow color in jaundice patients. Was this post helpful??...lol...

To Clarify, the original slap bet was for brown or blue, No steel gray, no blue/gray, no hazel. I'm sticking to BLUE! I have been practicing my swing for about 9 months now! Mom

But Nanc, you bring up a great point. If there is not CONCLUSIVE evidence that they are in fact blue (i.e. more votes for grey than blue) than I believe the slap bet commissioner should step in a call a draw!

a good slap bet commissioner should have the verbage of the original bet, better yet video evidence. Can't wait to see how this turns out. Now it is sort of like watching Nascar, not all that interested in who wins but I wanna see a good wreck... :)
