Magazine Cuisine: Episode 10

I love this time of year. Real life fresh ingrediants are cropping up and magazines are filled with creative ways to put those seasonal delights to good use.

I was lucky enough to come into some rhubarb from our crop share (more on that later) and strawberries were on killer deal at Costco, so imagine my delight when I was perusing my most recent edition of Whole Living Magazine to find a recipe for Rhubarb-Strawberry Crumble.

While I can't rave about the lame picture (I kind of forgot until we had already devoured our first serving), I can rave about how incredibly easy this recipe was, and delivered a pretty good taste as well. Although, I think Nate would argue it would be better with whipped cream, and I say a scoop of ice cream. Maybe both?

It was an early morning treat for us as Nate and I were up at 6AM on Monday doing all sorts of fun activities like cleaning the basement, organizing the nursery, and....well....baking the above.

Let's just say the nesting has started....

Don't forget the sugar in the rhubarb...just glad dad got the first piece. Of course mom just said sprinkle a little sugar on top...it will be ok. Just not the same...

I read that magazine while up north and saw the same recipe. I made a double batch of rhubarb bread and some of the blueberry rhubarb jam Nate likes so much before we went up north. I stopped and picked some more so now some tapioca rhubarb sauce. Yummo! Miss you, Love, Mom
