No Words....

I Hate Minnesota.

People say, "But just look at how pretty it is"

I say pretty is over-rated.

PLEASE MOTHER NATURE...BRING US SPRING!

Spring Fever

It is miserable that as I am typing Spring Fever it is snowing outside and we have a winter storm warning that brings with it 7-11 inches of snow.

But, in the effort to not go crazy in this never-ending winter, it is important to focus on the positive.

For example, it hit 50 degrees yesterday. Yes..a whole whoppin' 50! This is pretty good considering how cold of a March we have had. Nate and I declared it officially spring and broke out the grill, for some delicious steaks.

Nate was concerned the food wouldn't turn out since he didn't have a beer while he was grilling, but shockingly enough, it was delicous. He insists it would have been better if he would have had a beer though.
It was also Lucy's first time outside since last summer. When we sit on the deck to eat or read she will come out and lay on the deck with us. As you can see here, she is very unhappy that we fooled her into thinking it was spring when it is still clearly cold outside. What can I say...she is a princess. She demanded to go back inside immediately....

Cyclist Safety

Most of you know Nate bikes to work everyday. Now that I have finally convinced him to wear his helment everyday I don't worry quite as much about him getting T-Boned by a huge SUV

How many of you think you are A+ drivers, super observant, always at attention?

Check out this video, and see if you pass the test:

I swear this is entertainment first, education second.

March Madness

No I am not talking basketball people (although there were quite a few exciting games this weekend)...I am talking about the madness that is the once-in-a-decade fashion updating of my father.
That's right..after ELEVEN years (Mom and I did the math) we were able to get Dad to set foot in a mall. And not only a mall but also a DSW shoestore. Pretty impressive I know.
Here is Dad in the Macy's SUIT department...crazy I know. What is even crazier is that the salewoman literally took us to one suit, Dad put it on and said this one is fine and we were out of there. Shopping just isn't that easy when you are a girl.

Because the suit shopping was sooooo painless Mom and I decided that Dad should check out Eddie Bauer and get some new work clothes as well. Here he is "modeling".....

Does anyone else find it ironic that they stuck him in the handicapped room?

Mom and I did Let's Dish again which was fun. Dad didn't think "mixing ingrediants in plastic bags" sounded fun so he missed out...but not on the photo op!!

Oh yeah...it snowed ALL weekend. Yes it was pretty but seriously this winter is ridiculous.

It was a great weekend! We always love having the parents come to visit, especially during March Madness. There was a lot of basketball watched, and much Grain Belt consumed by the boys.

WOW! I have my husband back!

So this weekend marked the last weekend that Nate had access to his crazy video game, World of Warcraft (affectionately called WOW in our household). This game is seriously ridiculous, and sucked up a large chunk of Nate's time each day.

Now, Nate is always very helpful around the house, cooking and cleaning...and playing WOW. He even had his WOW playing down to a science. On nights that I would come homr from class I would see him sitting at the computer, playing this video game. But magically, by the time I got in the door he would be in the kitchen acting like he was being productive.

So, it was determined that WOW needed to go away for the sake of spring cleaning, for the sake of Nate's GMAT test, and for the sake of us doing fun stuff (i.e. NOT WOW).

People out there may think I am harsh...but REST EASY. Nate assured me that his characters that he has spent 1million hours building and powering up (or whatever other dork phrases you can think of) go into hibernation when you let your subscription lapse. So when Nate gets the green light to sign back up...all of his characters will still be there, at the same level, ready to fight the rest of the world. WHEW! That is a relief.

So I have my husband back, and we were very productive this weekend. Maybe it is knowing that my Dad is coming next weekend and he can help Nate be handy, or maybe...just maybe it is the extra 4 hours a day that were freed up with the release of WOW.

Middle School Math?

My friend Amy sent me this great math problem today. See if you can figure it out. Reply with your answer in the comment section and after a few days I will let you know if you get it right!

This is a 5th grade math problem. If you can't stand word math problems, just turn away now. This is not a trick question. This is a real math problem so don't say that a bus has no legs.

There are 7 girls in a bus
Each girl has 7 backpacks
In each backpack, there are 7 big cats
For every big cat there are 7 little cats
Question: How many legs are there in the bus?

Good Luck!!

Weekend Fun

This past weekend was so much fun, which was such a fantastic change! With being back in school, my weekends have pretty much been consumed with reading, studying and writing papers. So it was great to take a break from all of that to spend a weekend at home in V-town with the fam! It was EXTRA fabulous because Amy drove up to hang out and she always makes any time a good time.

We started the weekend off with a delcious meal on the grill..which who doesn't love grilled food in March!?

We took a downward turn when the boys and Amy talked us into seeing 10,000 B.C....which by the way is the worst movie ever.
And then my dad broke out the Good Shit and that of course led to us heading to Chasers, Viroquas new hip-happening bar, where Becca and I decided it would be in everyone's best interest to not only sing Karaoke, but do a Ching/Snoop Dogg rap song. Oh yeah...we did it.

And of course there was lots of Finn time! He is getting so big. Here he is as the next Cheerios baby model. Seriously...I wonder if anyone knows someone that could get this kid on the back panel?

My Flesh and Blood

I want to give a shout-out to this documentary that Nate and I watched last night. It is called "My Flesh and Blood."

The documentary follows a woman who has 13 kids who all have varying degrees of handicaps, mental or physical. Most of the kids are adopted. From twins who were born without legs, to an abusive boy that has cystic fibrosis, it was shocking to see how well kids can cope with this sort of adversity.

It was also interesting to watch the mom, how she coped and how it affected her personally.

It isn't the most upbeat of movies, but if you have 80 minutes to spare some day you should check it out. It definitely leaves you with the feeling of not taking what you have forgranted.

Git R Done

This last weekend I had the pleasure of going to the Las Vegas NASCAR race for work. Of course I was pretty much on my deathbed with fever, flu, snot drainage, etc. Needless to say I was not what you would call the "coolest" person as I took a 2 hour nap in the middle of the day and was in bed by 10:30, but I survived.

The best part about the trip was going to David Burke's new place in the Venetian for dinner. My good friend LIndsay is dating the executive chef there and he came out to meet us and kept sending RIDICULOUS food our way. We had this amazing rock seared Kobe beef and shrimp, and he sent a stone crab on a bed of nails, and the ultimate was the dessert he sent for us. IT was a cheesecake lollipop tree with bubblegum whipped cream. And I am not kidding you the whipped cream tasted like every kids dream.
The race was fun, although quite windy and cold. I managed to get sunburn on my face though! We only got to stay for 20 laps of the race which seemed pretty ridiculous but I got to do my favorite parts which is watch the driver introductions (see Tony Stewart below) and listen to the national anthem with the flyover.

Regular Scheduled Programming

No, I'm not talking about the Writer's Strike being over.....I'm talk about how some measly virus has completely taken over my life.

I came down with a fever and cough on Thurdsay and it has escalated from there. Water leaks out of my eyes because there is so much pressure in my face it has no where else to go. Something like water pours out of my nose relentlessly. And for some reason I can't hear out of my right ear.

I could post pictures....but the would NOT be pretty. No one needs to see that.
